SIXTH RAILWAY STOP: Parents

Helping the bereaved parent

I recently came across this site and it resonated with me. I thought it may be helpful for people to read and to pass along to other people who know a parent who has lost a child.  Believe it or not all of the things that are listed have, at one time or another, been said to me.  Although some of the blogger's advice may seem counterintuitive to those who have not lost a child, I found the suggestions poignant, accurate, comprehensive and an excellent guide for those who want to do/say the "right" thing.  As an aside, it is also important for those supporting a bereaved parent to understand they don't have to "say the right thing" at all; merely listening is an invaluable gift to give a person who is grieving.
